Why that Alabama Girl is Dead in Aruba

Well, I guess we dont know for sure she is dead, but I think its safe to jump to that conclusion at this point. You all know I am controversial, and this post wont be any different, so consider yourself warned.

First, I am having a hard time feeling sorry for these parents. Sure, my heart goes out to them. But, you know what, if you are so naive as to think you can ship your beautiful teenage daughter off to some party spot with 'chaperones' and nothing will happen to her, well, I feel sorry for you. This just reminds me of the kids that wanted to go to spring break, but their really bright parents said they can only go with 'chaperones'. Yea, big deal. Chaperones mean nothing. Those kids will be out screwin, drinking, and god knows what else chaperones or not. If you want to let your kid run off to spring break or any other trip with all their friends to party in some far-off destination, you are just asking for trouble. Usually its just your average alchohol poisoning, STDs, or pregnancy, but every now and then its your not-so-average kidnapping, rape, and dumped body in the South Atlantic.

Naive parents piss me off. I see her pretty blonde mom crying on CNN and all I can think is, 'Well, I feel for ya, but then again, no I dont'. Naivity kills people. Lots of people. Your 18 year old daughter from 'bama hasnt probably seen a real club in her life, let alone any dangerous people. Yet you ship her off with her friends for a week of booze of partying, and then, gasp, act all shocked when there is a negative outcome.

All of this lack of responsibility and NAIVITY in society today really PISSES me off. I GUARANTEE you that that girl's mom would have been like "Oh not my little girl, she would neeeeeever go out drinking. She would neeeeeever be at some strange bar alone. She would neeeeeeever ride home with some strange men. Noooooothing bad can happen, because after all, there are chaperones there." Yea, good call hun. You are 0 for 4 there. And now all that stupid 'trust' born out of naivity and being more worried about being your daughters best friend than worried about her best interests just killed her.

You ride a motorcycle without a helmet and you are asking to be an organ donor. You ship your pretty, naive teenage daughter off to some party-town to get liquored up with her not-so-protective friends, and you are asking to take a trip to the morgue to identify her just-pulled-from-the-ocean body.

So sad. Parents need to get their head out of the sand and spend more time being parents and less time being their kid's best friend.
